Blowing the shofar

This is a musical item that is made of the horn of a desert sheep, ram, or an ibex. We dont make shofars out of cows because that reminds us of the sin of the golden calf. Don't worry it doesn't hurt them, because it is like fialing of their finger-nails. When it is blown once, it is for when you are young and the world revolves around you. The second one is 3 short blows,it is when you are at the age of 10-17. You now have friends, family and yourself to see to. The third one is nine blows and is when you are from 18-death. Now you have a lot more to think about. The last blow is long and loud, it is for the community.

How to blow it

It is harder then it looks.You have to spit like you are blowing rasberries.You also have to cover the mouth piece completly, so no air can come out your end.After you blow it, it will smell horrible, and you can't just pore water and let it sit because that makes mold grow in it. You have to talk to the seller of your shofar to get the details on how to do it.

How to make a shofar for yourself

If you happen to want one but don't have $100.00-$500.00 to spare,listen up.The frist thing that you have to do is get a dry horn(doesn't matter what size). After purchase, you have to boil it to stretch it out(the seller will tell you if they have already done so). You then carve out the material inside of it. Then sawing off the tip for a mouth piece, you sand it, smooth it, then polish it.
