Menorah

Is it really called a menorah?

The menorah is also called a hanukiyah because a menorah is really only has 7 candles, but some people call a menorah a hanukiyah because it has 9 candles. I call it a menorah, but you can call it a hunukiyah if you want to:).

More information on the menorah

• The menorah(or hanukiyah)has 8 candles
• The 9th candle is called the shamash
• The shamash is used to light the other 8 candles
• The shamash is lit first and then used to light the other candles
• The candles are placed from right to left, even though when the candles are lit, you light them from left to right
