RoshHashanaDo you know about Rosh HashanaRosh Hashana is what most Jews know as the Jewish New Year. It starts at sundown and it is the Jewish New Year and it has a story behind it. Not many people know this, but on Rosh Hashana, G-d, told Abraham to sacrifice his son, Isaac. So Abraham took Isaac to a sacrificial stand, but instead of Isaac, G-d said to Abraham to sacrifice a ram. Once the ram was sacrificed, we got the shofar. We learned from this that human sacrifice is not right. We also learned that to celebrate life and don't do a human sacrifice. -Brian R One of the customs during Rosh Hashana is called tashlich. |
